Everyones favourite insect Very calm and user friendly Phasmid. Their looks, with the spikes and the curl of the tail on touch makes them a great pet. I feed them Eucalyptus and bottle brush, but they like the gum leaves and will only nibble on the bottle brush. When i blow on them they just gently sway and the tail curl would be another defense, some say to mimic a scorpion. They seem to enjoy a mist of water once a week and as soon as they feel the water, they go for a leaf to drink on instinct. common name, spiney leaf or Macleays adult female

when mating, the male will mount the back of the female. He then delivers a round ball of sperm. (as you can see in the "photo" section)
This particular male has been on the females back for 12 continuous hours, so far. She has tried unsuccessfully to shake him off a couple of times but she continues to climb and eat without to many worries.
